Bridge with Industry

The National Skills Council (NSC) within the Ministry for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation invites legally established companies, partnerships and cooperatives to submit an expression of interest to participate in a pilot project for hosting micro-placements for educational professionals involved in the delivery of Applied Vocational Education and Training (VET).

By exposing educators to workplaces, the NSC aims to strengthen collaboration between education and industry and to ensure that VET curricula remain relevant and aligned with current industry standards. Real world exposure enables educators to tailor their teaching to labour‑market demands and helps to bridge the skills gap. Placements should therefore offer both observational and hands‑on opportunities, allowing educators to understand industry practices, technologies and workflows.

Required industries include:

·       Health and Social Care

·       Agribusiness

·       Fashion and Textiles

·       Engineering Technology

·       Information Technology

·       Creative Media

·       Hairdressing and Beauty

·       Hospitality

·       Retail

Through this unique pilot project, employers have will have the opportunity to:

1. Ensure the teaching content in Applied Vocational Educational Training at MQF level 3 (Secondary School level) reflects the current labour market trends, strengthening the alignment between education and employment.

2. Showcase the organizational practices as leaders in the field whilst training the trainer with the capabilities the industry requires.

3. Help develop skilled workers that are job‑ready reducing recruitment costs.

4. Increase HR availability to help drive growth within the organization (opportunity)

This collaboration supports a more prepared workforce, facilitates recruitment, and contributes to the long‑ term growth and competitiveness of your sector.
