About the NICE Academy
The NICE Academy is held annually in different European countries and brings together academics, policymakers, and practitioners from across the continent. Its mission is to promote innovation and excellence in the academic training of career guidance practitioners while creating strong connections between research, policy, and practice.
The Academy is more than a conference – it is a learning space designed to foster dialogue, exchange of good practice, and co-creation of ideas. By hosting the Academy, Malta will be at the centre of important discussions on how career guidance can support sustainable futures, resilient communities, and smooth transitions in a rapidly evolving labour market.
Programme highlights
The 2025 Academy features a rich four-day programme including:
- Keynote speeches by internationally recognised experts such as Gege Gatt, David Xuereb, Manwel Debono, Tristram Hooley, Rosie Alexander, Deirdre Hughes, and William G. Nicoll.
- Workshops and paper sessions where participants will explore topics such as career transitions, the impact of AI, the role of emotional intelligence, career guidance for vulnerable groups, and innovative tools for practitioners.
- Poster and networking sessions designed to connect researchers, practitioners, and policy stakeholders in an interactive format.
- Special symposiums and panels that bring together diverse perspectives on lifelong learning, mental health, and the role of guidance in sustainability transitions.
Why Malta?
For the National Skills Council, hosting NICE Academy 2025 reflects Malta’s growing role in shaping European discussions on future skills and lifelong career development. It also highlights the country’s efforts to strengthen cooperation between education, training, and the labour market, ensuring that guidance services empower individuals at all stages of their lives.
