The National Career Guidance Network

The National Career Guidance Network (NCGN) is Malta’s national platform for strengthening career guidance across all sectors; education, employment, and industry. Chaired and administered by the National Skills Council, the NCGN is uniting stakeholders to ensure everyone in Malta and Gozo has equitable access to high-quality career guidance throughout life.

In a world where the labour market is changing faster than ever, career guidance must do more than inform; it must empower. The NCGN was born from the belief that guidance should be lifelong and future-ready. Its work aligns with the Osnabrück Declaration, European Skills Agenda, and VET strategies for green and digital transitions.

What are the objectives of the NCGN?

  • To strengthen career guidance provision and collaboration across the education, training, and employment sectors.
  • To develop a National Policy on Career Guidance aligned with national and EU strategies.
  • To promote career management skills for learners, workers, and jobseekers.
  • To ensure inclusive access to guidance, with targeted support for underrepresented groups.
  • To deliver ongoing professional development opportunities for guidance professionals.
  • To advance future-focused careers, including green and digital pathways.

What do we hope to achieve?

  • To draft and publish a new National Career Guidance Policy.
  • To create and maintain a career guidance services registry.
  • To launch an interactive online platform for clients to access career guidance services.
  • To deliver continuous professional development programmes for practitioners.
  • To lead a national awareness campaign on emerging careers and career management skills.
  • To host ongoing stakeholder committee meetings and feedback workshops.
  • To align guidance services with Malta’s National Skills Strategy and relevant EU frameworks.
