Knowing What Skills Malta Really Needs.

How do we make sure we’re training people for tomorrow’s jobs and not yesterday’s jobs?

To prepare people for the future, Malta needs a clear and shared understanding of the skills its economy requires, both now and in the years ahead. At present, information about skills demand is spread across different systems and organisations. This fragmentation can make it harder to plan education, training, and workforce development in a coordinated way.

Strengthening how Malta identifies current and future skills needs allows better decisions to be made across the system. Improved skills data, forecasting, and sector-level analysis help reduce skills mismatches, avoid wasted talent, and support productivity and innovation.

A stronger national approach to skills intelligence ensures that education pathways, training opportunities, and workforce planning are aligned with Malta’s long-term vision. This helps people invest time and effort in skills that are relevant, valued, and future-ready.
